Outcome

Background

Clients expect to be able to make their own pages, have control and at bare minimum put together a “good” page.

Magento requires some HTML and CSS knowledge to do this and although we can build widgets etc it is less than ideal.

Bluefoot CMS was acquired by Magento. They subsequently have retained the extension for Commerce and EE only.

Relevant data

  • There is a rumour Page Builder will be released at some point into the open source ecosystem.

  • Columns and Layouts appear to be the hardest thing for clients to do given that they have to work with DIV and classes

  • Most clients will fallback to putting images in layouts provided as an easy fix

  • It does not need to be “feature rich” Adding Headings, Text, Images, Video and HTML that respond would be a leap.
